Christmas is one of the choir’s busiest periods in their annual calendar. It is also perhaps one of the most rewarding as well as strenuous in the learning of new music in just a short period of time. Learning commences at the beginning of September even while we are singing the ‘normal’ repertoire. From Stockholm to St Ives

On Sunday 22nd September, Mousehole MVC hosted a concert in St Ives as part of the week long festival. At the concert in the St Ives Theatre were guests from Stockholm, Sweden The Fredskören (Peace Choir). This was their first trip to the United Kingdom and those that attended the concert enjoyed every minute of their singing. Diana Jenkins, still known to the choir, as marvellous pianist, Diana Ford, died on Thursday 8th August 2019. Although Diana last played for us at the Summer Festival concert in 2008 she had been involved since the end of the Second World War! She was just 15 when she played at the Ritz Cinema in a concert when the choir also appeared..... Read More »

This year’s mid Summer concert finished the week on a high after the week’s low when the choir said goodbye to Arthur Brown, a bass member of the choir for sixty-eight years. Arthur was still present for the concert as his pint glass from the ‘Ship Inn’ was placed on the pulpit with roses in it. A very fitting tribute to a wonderfully..... Read More »

Choir Pays Tribute To Cornish Heroes

Rick, originally from Hayle, was Security Chief for Morgan Stanley at the World Trade Centre and is credited with saving the lives of over 2,500 people, as he evacuated them from the South Tower. Rick Rescorla’s widow, Susan was at the naming ceremony along with family and friends, and unveiled the plaque in honour of his memory.
