Bournemouth & Mousehole

Saturday 17th May, 2014 - 10:13am

On Friday 11th April Mousehole choir welcomed Bournemouth MVC as their guests for a concert at Carbis Bay Methodist Church.

A full church enjoyed an outstanding evening of music. The Bournemouth choir met all expectations in their less conventional approach to male voice choir singing, in a repertoire that spanned sacred Latin and French, to stirring Welsh hymn, to lighter American pieces.

The Mousehole men responded with a varied programme, from the rousing anthem from Chess, to the local, and specially written for the choir, Mermaid of Zennor, to the beautifully gentle Close Thine Eyes and The Lord's Prayer.

The Bournemouth choir's active enjoyment of their singing, in both the powerful and the light hearted numbers, left a lasting impression, and an enthusiasm for the two choirs performing together again in the future.

The excellent concert was matched by the delicious buffet provided afterwards by the Mousehole Ladies Committee.
