Guest artist at our Summer Festival

The special guest artist for the Summer festival (Sun. Aug 2nd, 7.30pm at St Mary's C of E Church Chapel Street Penzance) will be the popular Eirian Davies (Baritone) from S Wales. 

Eirian lives in the small rural village of Llangadog in West Wales.  After graduating from the University of Wales Aberystwyth with an honours degree in Biology in 2002, Eirian went on to follow a PGCE course for secondary schools.  He is currently working as an Assistant Headteacher at Ysgol Y Strade in Llanelli.   


Over the years he has collected many prizes on both a local and national level.  Along with this he has been invited to perform on 2 consecutive occasions, at the Urdd Gobaith Cymru’s Bryn Terfel Scholarship.


His concert work has been varied and diverse throughout Wales and England.  He is in regular demand with choirs and welsh societies.  His singing to date has taken him to Guernsey, Jersey, Ireland, Holland, the East Coast of Canada, and America and this is of course his second visit to Cornwall. 


Some of the works that he has performed include the Welsh opera Blodwen (Dr Joseph Parry), Requiem Mass (Faurť), Mass in D minor, (DvorŠk), Messiah (Handel), Nelson Mass (Haydn), Mass in C (Haydn), Mass in C (Mozart), Messe Solennelle (Gounod), Requiem (Saint-SaŽns), Elijah (Mendelssohn), Dona Nobis Pachem (Vaughan Williams) along with the popular welsh works Atgof o’r Sêr (Robat Arwyn) and Er Hwylio’r Haul (Robat Arwyn).  


For the moment he aims to continue teaching, but has aspirations to someday become a professional singer.
